Day 5

Today was our first full day with Mayah.  Overall it went really well.  Mayah seems to be bonding well with both of us!   She is eating very well and quite the party animal when awake, but she also sleeps great.  Today we had several appointments with various agencies.  We met with Civil Affairs to officially adopt Mayah.  From there we went to the Notary so that they can validate the documents!   After that is was a short break at the hotel for lunch and then to the police station to apply for her Chinese Passport.   We are now back in the room entertaining the little one until dinner time and off to bed.  Tomorrow we get to do some sightseeing here in Nanchang and free afternoon to continue the bonding.  Now if I can only get rid of this head cold, things would be much better.  Jet lag and being sick is not fun. 

On our way to officially adopt Mayah!  No turning back now.  I love the hat with the ears.  So cute.

The bus ride knocked her out.   She has really long lashes.  We are both so in love!

We had a few "first" today with us!  She had her first bath this morning, and gave us her first smile in the afternoon.  Today was a good day........ until the Walmart stop.   Most of the girls stayed back in the bus with the babies.  It took us longer at Walmart than expected.  Apparently Mayah was inconsolable.  We took over an hour to walk over to the Walmart and walk back to where the bus was parked.  Mayah cried and screamed almost the whole time.  It turned out she was hungry, but Miriam didn't know it was feeding time as her schedule is all out of whack.  I had the running schedule with me, so Miriam was left in the dark.  We will figure this parenting thing out... we promise!   Once I got back to the bus, we gave her a bottle and she was a happy camper again!
